Passenger Tales

Mo's diary for Sunday 19th July:

"At 11.10 am today, Sunday 19th July, four other passengers and myself caught the 11 am Arriva bus from Thirsk (there was a 10 minute delay due to a hold up en route). The bus had no trouble getting up Sutton Bank but we arrived in Helmsley just too late to catch the 128 bus.   Everyone got off but me and 5 got on, two of whom were Helen & Eden (of Friends of the Moorsbus). The 3 other new passengers alighted at the Rievaulx abbey and café stop.  The weather was lovely and the views even more so.

"Helen, Eden and I continued on and arrived at Stokesley at 12.30 pm where we all got off - and it began to rain. Helen & Eden went to check out a possible Town Walk and I sat by the beck under an umbrella eating my sandwiches.  (H & E are looking into the idea of  walks round various towns en route.)

"45 mins later the rain had stopped and the 3 of us got back onto the bus and travelled to Gt Ayton where Helen & Eden got off

to go a walk, I stayed on and another person boarded and the return journey began. Back into Stokesley at 1.45pm a couple and their dog got on, at 2 pm a man joined us at Bilsdale, then at Rievaulx 2 people who'd been dropped off earlier in the day got back on. At Helmsley 5 people joined the bus, 2 got off at Sutton Bank, and the bus arrived back in Thirsk at 3 pm where 5 others and I alighted.

"It was a really delightful run and for anyone wanting to see a beautiful part of the North York Moors it is an excellent and relaxing way to do it. I will happily use the Moorsbus again, picking different routes each time."
